Meet the world-record breaking Epitex D Series, Ushio’s newest SMBB SWIR LED collection. Following on from the success of the S Series, the introduction of the D Series has achieved the world’s highest LED output power and efficacy in the SWIR range.
A standard-power, two-fold improvement of output and efficiency is attained compared to the S Series; however, the high-power versions have ramped up their forward current to 1 Ampere (A) and an output power boost of two to four times that of the S Series. Design improvements to power consumption bring in every Watt (W) at a lower cost.
Among others, D Series SWIR LEDs are well-suited to machine vision applications, such as optical food sorting. A fine example is the 1050 nm SMBB1050GD LED, which is frequently combined with an SWIR camera or sensor to bring high-speed, high-power material analysis to sorting applications.
While the most common D Series construction mounts the 1 mm² chip on an SMBB package, these adaptable chips can be paired with most Ushio package types.
For standard-power applications, D Series chips can be mounted in SMT or molded LED packaging; while the 1 mm² high-powered chips fit nicely onto EDC, SMBB, and TO-66 packages.
Under certain circumstances, it is even possible to order the bare, unmounted D Series chips without the associated package.
